Weekend Motorcycle Excursions
Just to show you the changing of the seasons, I though it would be fun to show you our weekend motorbike trips so keep an eye out here and we will post a brief write up of some of our rides.
We set off through the Lewis Pass in mid September to go to the “Big Chill” rally - run by a friend who lives in Reefton. It was supposed to be in early August but the Chill was so Big that the road was closed due to snow and landslides…. Anyway when we got there we caught up with Tom - an Irish biker now resident in Christchurch having ridden his bike here a few years ago:
On the way back, we stopped at “The Bealey” pub for refreshments in the picturesque Arthurs Pass. Here your tour guides Lindsay and Evan are discussing the merits of one of the great motorcycling roads….
Heading up the east coast of the South Island last weekend, I thought it was about time we got out on the gravel roads again. I checked out one of our favourite routes The Molesworth Road, but its not open yet. To be fair, the main highway has only just opened again after a few serious downpours cut off the main thoroughfare for travel between the two islands. Now they’ve fixed the main roads so the trucks can get through again, hopefully they’ll get to the back roads so we can fight through on the dual sport bikes….
